CADILLAC, Mich. (AP) - Consumers Energy says some areas hit by a wave of thunderstorms and strong winds might not get electricity restored until late Friday.
Roughly 93,000 customers had no power at noon Wednesday, part of a wide band from Lake Michigan to the Saginaw Bay region. Separately, Great Lakes Energy reported 31,000 outages.
The National Weather Service says Tuesday night storms produced wind gusts of 50 mph and dumped up to 3 inches of rain in the Grand Rapids area. The Muskegon area has received 8 to 10 inches of rain since Sunday.
Fallen trees damaged some homes and businesses and blocked some roads. Officials closed several miles of a state road in the Cadillac area for a time because of fallen trees and power lines.
